What’s in a name? Quite a lot actually. When you’re born with one as unwieldy as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (like Lady Gaga), something’s got to give. We’ve collected a few of our favourite stage names and the reasons behind them. Some, like Alice Cooper, are minor strokes of genius. Others, like Kasabian, are in questionable taste. What they all are though is memorable.
The frenzied killing of film director Roman Polanski’s pregnant wife Sharon Tate and several others in 1969 is one of the 20th centuries most shocking crimes. Kasabian were originally called Saracuse but changed their name to match that of the murderers’ getaway driver, Linda Kasabian. Not big or clever, lads.
