Rock preview: Kasabian, on tour

Even a genre as wilfully backward as lad rock has had to face the future – and that is where Kasabian come in. On the one hand, they have singer Tom Meighan, possessed of a decent voice and a Gallagher swagger. On the other, they have Serge Pizzorno (were the band Thunderbirds puppets, the one the others would call “Brains”), whose deft splicings of rock guitars and beats have kept them relevant. In a change from their early days, new album West Rider Pauper Lunatic Asylum (a psychedelic freakout, produced by Dan The Automator) sounds an interesting proposition.
