Written by Serge Pizzorno and produced by Serge and Dan the Automator (Gorillaz, DJ Shadow) it is the first taster from their incredible new album ‘The West Rider Pauper Lunatic Asylum’, out June 8th. Their first physical single release from the new LP will be ‘Fire’ (June 1st).

‘Vlad The Impaler’ is a turbo-charged rock anthem; a full on rant from start to finish sped along by Tom Meighan’s searing vocal. “Vlad is a total chaos tune,” enthuses Serge. “It’s a call out to all our people, the ones who are tuned into our radio station.”

The video is directed and written by Richard Ayoade (Arctic Monkeys, Last Shadow Puppets, Vampire Weekend) produced by Warp Films, shot on a potato farm outside Doncaster and stars Noel Fielding.

Noel Fielding plays the titular Vlad The Impaler – a dark, bushy moustached, big eye-browed character, who causes the most unimaginable havoc in every given situation. Sally Hawkins best known for her golden globe-winning role in ‘Happy Go Lucky’ makes a small cameo as one of Vlad’s victims.
