Kasabian’s LP cover Wiz great

THE proud British rock ’n’ roll tradition for classic album covers lives on with KASABIAN.

The band have unveiled the artwork, right, for their third long player, The West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, which is out on June 8.

I got hold of chief songwriter SERGE PIZZORNO, who was in Paris waiting for a flight to Berlin yesterday, for a quick explanation.

The Leicester rock lord told me: “It’s one of those amazing old-fashioned album sleeves inspired by THE ROLLING STONES and THE WHO.

“It was shot in a children’s hospital in east London and we’re all getting fancy dress on for a smash-up at the asylum.”

Top photographer and video director ANDREW WHISTON, aka WIZ, did the shoot.

He is also the man responsible for directing the shoot-em-up video in South Africa for the band’s single Fire, which is out on June 1.

Wiz has done some amazing stuff – check him out on t’internet.

Also pictured is the album sleeve for EMINEM’s RELAPSE, which is out on May 18.

Look closely and you’ll spot his face is made up by tens of thousands of pills and tablets.

The title is even made out in the style of a chemist’s prescription, pointing to the rapper’s drug woes of the past.

Two albums everyone should own by the end of the summer.
