Big Weekend enters its final day

Lily Allen will play alongside mainstage headliners The Prodigy on the final day of Radio 1’s Big Weekend.

Thousands of music fans have arrived in Swindon for the final day of this year’s event, held at Lydiard Park.

Sunday will also see performances from The Enemy, Maximo Park and Franz Ferdinand alongside 25 bands and DJs performing across four stages.

The free festival began on Saturday and featured Kasabian, Basement Jaxx and headliners Snow Patrol.

Thousands of punters also flocked to see Leicester rockers Kasabian as the sun went down. They played a frantic set including Club Foot and Vlad The Impaler.

Newsbeat caught guitarist Serge Pizzorno. He said: “We’ve just walked offstage, it was wonderful they were all clapping and cheering. [The crowd were] a lot younger than I expected. Fire was great tonight I thought. They were really loud the crowd – at points, deafening.”
