Kasabian To Host The Xfm Residency [Audio]

Serge Pizzorno is to man the wheels of steel throughout the month of June…

Hold onto your hats, because Xfm announces that Kasabian are the latest band to join The Xfm Residency, following the likes of The Prodigy, Coldplay and Kings of Leon.

The Xfm Residency is a one-hour show whereby an artist or band takes over the Xfm airwaves, playing the music they love and talk completely un-scripted. The band’s Serge Pizzorno will be taking control of the Xfm turntables and he promises it’ll be an eclectic mix.

“It’ll be like the FA Cup draw,” he told us. “It’s a real mixed bag. It makes no sense, but it makes a lot of sense.”

The show will take place at 9pm on Sunday for four weeks during the month of June, with their first show broadcast on June 7.

The band’s third album, ‘West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum’, will be released on the internet the day after the first show. The album’s first official physical single will be the track ‘Fire’, to be released on June 1.

Mike Walsh, Head of Music for Xfm says, “Kasabian have always been one of Xfm’s favourite bands – they have always delivered very strong and creative albums. We are very excited about hearing what they have to say about album number three, and the songs that inspired it, on the Xfm Residency.”
