Kasabian see Formula 1 at Silverstone [Photos]

Plans to make what is scheduled to be the last British Grand Prix at Silverstone a remarkable and memorable event centred as much on off-track action as on, and as ever there was a huge amount going on.


In the celebrity stakes, there were appearances from the likes of England football manager Fabio Capello, rock band Kasabian, TV presenters Christine Bleakley, Vernon Kay and Jonathan Ross, Sir Richard Branson and British Olympic and world champion track cyclist Victoria Pendleton. ‘King of Bling’ darts champion Bobby George hosted a throw-off at Force India on Saturday afternoon, and various dignitaries and politicians were in evidence.


The younger members of the paddock recognised electro rockers Kasabian, who arrived fresh from West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum and promptly got a tour of the McLaren pits. Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles was not far behind.

Their third album, West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, was released on June 5 and entered the UK album chart at number one, giving Kasabian their second number-one album. And to give themselves a treat after those months of hard work in the studio, the British rock band showed up in the Silverstone paddock – causing a media frenzy…
