Serge and Tom from Kasabian shot exclusively for the cover of NME in London on May 14. Picture Director Marian Paterson’s concept for the shoot was Alice In Wonderland-meets-‘Beggars Banquet’, with Tom recast as The Mad Hatter and Serge the White Rabbit. Kasabian’s ride to the east coast

FROM sell-out city stadiums to seaside Spas, life in chart-topping indie band Kasabian is one long roller-coaster ride, according to bassist Chris Edwards.

We caught up with Chris ahead of Kasabian’s concert at Bridlington Spa on Sunday, June 14 and he said the band were looking forward to playing in the town for the first time.

KASABIAN frontman TOM MEIGHAN is “gutted” guitarist/keyboardist CHRIS KARLOFF has left the British band.

Earlier this week (begs17JUL06), it was announced Karloff had quit Kasabian due to “artistic differences” but Meighan insists the split is amicable. But the singer refuses to confirm if touring replacement JAY MEHLER will become a full-time member of the band. He says, “I am gutted. It’s sad after you’ve been with someone all those years and he’s a great person and friend and it’s just one of those things. “We wish him the best, he’s a wonderful musician. “Jay’s just coming in to do the live parts and we’ll make that decision when the time comes, but he’s wonderful and has a lot of colour to him.”

Kasabian have parted ways with guitarist/keyboardist Chris Karloff.


The band, who are set to released their second album ’Empire’ on September 4, issued a statement via their offical website confirming Karloff’s departure.

The statement reads: “Karloff and the band experienced certain creative and artistic differences during the writing and recording of their second album. These irreconcilable and diverging approaches resulted in the band asking Karloff to leave the group. Karloff will pursue a musical career elsewhere.”
