Kasabian – Sun Biz Sessions [Interview/Acoustic Performances]

IN 1992, two young friends from Leicester were listening to their favourite music on a cheap home stereo.

Jumping around the bedroom, they pretended to be rock ’n’ roll stars in front of an audience of plastic toys.

By the end of this summer those two lads, KASABIAN’s TOM MEIGHAN and SERGE PIZZORNO, will have performed for more than a million fans on tour with OASIS — the heroes of their teenage years.

Kasabian are all fired up for Glasto [The Sun Biz Sessions]

firedupStorming session … Kasabian

KASABIAN’S Biz Session was always going to be an absolute belter.

The Leicester lords proved they are our rock elite with a storming acoustic session at The Sun HQ.

Tom put in a storming performance of single Fire and new track Underdog from their terrific new album.

But the best of a brilliant bunch was Serge rapping a stripped-down version of 2004 hit Processed Beats.

The lads will take to the stage at Glastonbury this month and Serge can’t wait to see what headliners BLUR have up their sleeves.

He said: “I like Blur. He’s a strange fruit DAMON ALBARN, although I’ve never met him, but undeniably he is a genius. His music stands for itself, and at the end of the day that’s all that matters.”

Tom doesn’t sound quite so keen on the Glasto scene though.

He told “Festivals in general are a nightmare, for me anyway. Just being stuck in a field and that’s it…

“You can’t wash properly, the food is like dog meat and there’s loads of drugs going around.

“I don’t fancy venturing out into the crowd, it would be pretty horrific, just monstrous. I’ll be staying wherever I can find myself some privacy.”

Kasabian @ Brighton Dome 16/05/09 [The Great Escape Festival]

Kasabian headlined the Brighton Dome tonight as part of The Great Escape Festival. They played a storming set [as per usual] and also debuted new song ‘Where Did All The Love Go?’, much to the delight of the audience.

Also supporting were new bands Our Fold and Dark Horses, which were both good, but entirely different sounds. We even saw Tom nip out to watch Dark Horses, who are sort of electro folk-rock.

Kasabian were out of this world. I’m so glad I was present and priviledged to hear Where Did All The Love Go? It’s groovy, it’s retro, it’s [dare I say it] Oasis-y – I love it! I did film it [sorry, but the sound is crap]. Was a bit annoyed by people crowdsurfing – it’s a new song, afterall…

The crowd were in fine voice and Tom commented on how good everyone was. I did get some jokes – I yelled out “Chris” and I think I scared the poor man. Someone threw beer over Tom, who was standing still at the time and didn’t move an inch [what a trooper]. He seemed like ‘And yeah, what? Think that’s gonna phase me’. That was hilarious. I also loved Jay looking all cool in his sunglasses and Serge’s dancing.
